5. Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee was acquired near the trade deadline in February and he thrived with the team immediately. He stepped into the starting line-up after Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist went down with his second shoulder injury of the season. Courtney started almost every game from there on out, even in the playoffs.

More from Hornets News

He averaged 8.9 points per game, 2.1 assists per game, and 3.1 rebounds per game in 28 games with Charlotte. He also shot 44.5% from the field and 39.2% from the three-point line. His impact was mostly on the defensive end where he was the primary defender on the opposing team’s best player.

The only reason that Lee comes in at number five on my list, is because he is replaceable. With MKG coming back next season, Courtney’s minutes will be vastly reduced and the Charlotte Hornets will have Jeremy Lamb off of the bench. It is also difficult to judge how loyal Lee is to the team because he was only there for half of the season.

He was an important player and a great find by Rich Cho and management to come in and make an immediate impact for half of the season. It will be interesting to see if the team attempts to re-sign him in the summer.
