4. Al Jefferson

Big Al has already said that he wants to retire with the Charlotte Hornets. He is 31 years old and is coming off of a big contract that he signed with the team back in 2013. He is an important piece to the team but he is getting older and he is now coming off of the bench for the team.

That role would likely continue next season if he returns. The Hornets won’t want to pay Jefferson big money as an aging big man who comes off of the bench. It will be interesting to see who much money he wants and how much Charlotte will be willing to pay him.

He averaged 12.0 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game this past season. He only played in 57 games this year and only started 18 of those. Big Al shot 48.5% from the field. He was a great player and he could still offer a lot to the Hornets going forward but only if he will re-sign at a reasonable price.

Charlotte has a lot of free agents to re-sign and they won’t want to waste a big chunk of their cap space on an aging center that is no longer a starter. A lot of fans would love to see Big Al return next season because of his skill in the offensive low post.
