The Charlotte Hornets have a strong list of point guard on their roster for next season even after losing Jeremy Lin they brought back Ramon Sessions and Brian Roberts to back up Kemba Walker.

The deepest and most talented position for the Charlotte Hornets is point guard without a doubt. The team has made it a priority to make the position a strength instead of a weakness. That emphasis that was placed on the position has paid off when looking at their roster.

In this article we are going to take a look at the depth chart and the potential stats each player could end the season with. These are my predictions based on the previous season, player fit, age, role, and minutes played. My predictions are not including the possibility of injuries so keep that in mind.

Kemba Walker (Starter)

Kemba Walker is the teams’ best player and the unquestioned leader. There is no athlete in sports who works harder on and off the court than Walker. He will carry a team on his back late in games consistently and has grown into an All-Star caliber player. You can question his field goal percentage but you cannot question his ability to be clutch in late game situations.

Walker is the type of player who can sense when a team is in need of a basket or a big play and most of the time he finds a way to deliver it. Each year Walker has improved as a player and it has been fun to watch him grow as a player. Last season he had career highs in field goal percentage at .427 and three-point percentage at .371. He will take that next step this season as well. Let us take a look at his predicted stats:

Starts- 81
Points Per Game- 22.4
Assists Per Game- 6.1
Rebounds Per Game- 5.4
Field Goal %- .447
Three Point %- .377
Free Throw %- .851
Steals Per Game- 1.7
Blocks Per Game- 0.4
Turnovers Per Game- 1.9
Personal Fouls Per Game- 1.2
Player Rating- All-Star

Ramon Sessions (2nd String)

Guess who’s back? (back again) Sessions is back. Tell a friend. For Ramon Sessions re-signing with the Hornets after spending three years away from the franchise is a home-coming of sorts. Sessions is from the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area and feels like Carolina is home to him. Apart from all the feelings he is actually quite a serviceable back up point guard. In spurts, Sessions can fill in as a starter and has the ability to put up some good numbers off the bench.

Is Sessions on the same level as Jeremy Lin? Nope but not because of his stats being much different it is more of the fact that Lin is capable of carrying the team on his back for a few games a season. Sessions tends to just give you consistent numbers night in and night out but do not expect him to go off like Lin did. Let us take a look at his predicted stats:

Starts- 1
Points Per Game- 10.2
Assists Per Game- 2.7
Rebounds Per Game- 2.9
Field Goal %- .477
Three Point %- .331
Free Throw %- .783
Steals Per Game- 0.9
Blocks Per Game- 0.2
Turnovers Per Game- 1.7
Personal Fouls Per Game- 1.7
Player Rating- Quality Back Up

Brian Roberts (3rd String)

Again here is another player who left the Hornets only to come back to the team this off-season. Roberts never played consistently in his first go around with Charlotte. There is not much to say about him other than he is a classic third string player who may be called upon to put up some quality minutes during the season if injury occurs to the players ahead of him. Let us take a look at his predicted stats:

Starts- 0
Points Per Game- 3.1
Assists Per Game- 0.9
Rebounds Per Game- 0.4
Field Goal %- .441
Three Point %- .374
Free Throw %- .929
Steals Per Game- 0.3
Blocks Per Game- 0.1
Turnovers Per Game- 0.4
Personal Fouls Per Game- 1.1
Player Rating- Bench Warmer

Next: The Hornets Agree to a Two-Year Deal With Christian Wood

The Charlotte Hornets will go as far as Kemba Walker takes them next season much like last year. The point guard position is the most important one in the NBA today and this team has a great leader in Kemba. Sessions should be a serviceable back-up as he looks to replace Jeremy Lin. A lot of pressure will be on these three players this season.
