3. Of the players that left in free agency, who will the Charlotte Hornets miss the most next year?

Deshawn White: I could say Jeremy Lin, but I believe Lee helped the team in ways that some stats won’t show.

Max Teddy: I think the Hornets will miss Al Jefferson the most. When he came to the Hornets from Utah, he ushered in an era of Charlotte’s relevance in the NBA. Even though he ended up as a bench contributor late last season, his mastery of the low-block pump fake is almost impossible to duplicate.

Luke Spencer: Jeremy Lin. No doubt in my mind that he will be missed this upcoming year. Al Jefferson will be missed for nostalgia’s sake, but he’s basically a niche player on the decline physically. Lin is the type of player who took over crucial games for the Hornets. The defining wins the Hornets got over the Cavaliers, Spurs and Raptors were all Lin as he was on absolute fire and single-handedly put all of these high quality teams away.

I think Sessions is a solid back-up PG for any team in the league, but he doesn’t bring Lin’s ability to take over a game. I believe Lin was in a perfect situation with the Hornets playing behind and alongside Kemba. In hindsight, I wish that Cho had signed Lin to a bigger/longer contract last year. Best of luck to Jeremy in Brooklyn though; he deserved to get paid handsomely.

Laieke Abebe: Courtney Lee will easily be the most missed player next season. Like I said about Al Jefferson, I’m a huge fan of Lee and he is one of the NBA’s ultimate glue guys. He is an excellent three and D player and because of that he could maximize how many more seasons he can play in the NBA. Lee made all the hustle plays for the Hornets after coming from the Grizzlies via trade. In the playoffs, he made the biggest shot of the Hornets season against the Heat to put them up 3-2 in that series. He knew that he could get eight figures from some teams so he chose to go to the New York Knicks. I’m really happy that he got paid and sad that he isn’t coming back. While this allows Nic Batum to play is more natural shooting guard position, Lee will certainly be missed next year.

Jerry Stephens: If I had to pick one, it would be Jeremy Lin. He was the hero off of the bench last season as he led the second unit. He was consistent and even won the Hornets a few games with his stellar play. Although Al Jefferson and Courtney Lee were huge for Charlotte, Big Al did miss almost half of the season and Lee only played in 28 games. Jeremy played the whole season and was a great fit with the team. We all knew that he would be moving on to a starting role with another team once last season ended.
