PF: Marvin Williams – Scoring

Age: 30

2015-16 Averages: 11.7 PPG, 1.4 APG, 6.4 RPG, 1.0 BPG, 28.9 MPG

2015-16 Shooting Stats: 45.2% FG, 40.2% 3FG, 83.3% FT

Marvin Williams is coming off of the most impressive season of his career but he will still need to find a way to build from that this year. He was arguably the Hornets’ most consistent player and he also was the leader on the court. His veteran presence helped lead the team to the playoffs. He only had eight games of 20+ scoring this past season. The team will definitely need more of those scoring outbursts from him this year.

The Charlotte Hornets lost their fourth, sixth, and seventh leading scorer from last season this summer so that production will need to be replaced. Even though Marvin is coming off of the fourth highest scoring season in his career, he will need to be even more effective this season.

Marvin reinvented his game last year as he showed a major improvement in his shooting averages. The added shooting touch should allow Williams to have abetter scoring year this season. He may have to be the third leading scorer on the team this year with the losses of Al Jefferson and Jeremy Lin.

It will be a difficult task to ask  30-year old Williams to bump up his scoring averages but the team is expecting big things from him going forward.  He signed a four-year, $54.5 million contract this offseason and with that type of money being thrown his way, he will need to become more of a scoring threat for the team.
