Charlotte Hornets: Dell Curry is Still a Great Three-Point Shooter
Dell Curry showcased his three-point shooting ability at the Charlotte Hornets’ Meet the Team event and the retired NBA player has still got it.
At the Charlotte Hornets‘ Meet the Team event, fans and media members were able to come out and enjoy a day with the players at the Spectrum Arena. There were plenty of fun events going on but none better than when Dell Curry participated in a three-point shoot out. The retired NBA played showcased his shooting skills in front of a crowded arena.
The ex-Hornets player has a deep connection with the team as he played for a decade in Charlotte from 1988-1998. He is one of the most well-known players in team history and a fan favorite in the Queen City.
Dell Curry, the father of Stephen Curry, serves as the Hornets’ announcer with FOX Sports Southeast alongside Eric Collins and Stephanie Ready. Collins is the play-by-play commentator while Curry and Ready are color commentators. Curry has been in the role for the past seven years with the team.

In his NBA career, Curry made 1,245 three’s out of 3,098 attempts which gave him a career three-point shooting percentage of 40.2%. The 1994 sixth man of the year award winner is Charlotte’s franchise leader in games played, points scored, field goals made, and three-point field goals made.
We already knew that Dell was the one who taught Steph how to shoot so well but who would’ve thought the color commentator could still stroke it from long-range.
While Steph Curry has become the best three-point shooter in the NBA today, his dad was once one of the best in the league as well. And from the three-point shootout at the Hornets’ event, it’s clear that Dell still has a sweet stroke from deep. His form and release is still as good as it was 20 years ago.
Take a look at the video from @LockedOnHornets:
In the video, Dell Curry hit six of seven three-point attempts and even four in a row at one point. According to Russell Varner, the former Hornets’ star “finishes with 10 or 11.” It was a good showing from the 52-year old who may want to challenge his son as they would be a fun match-up.

I guess if the Charlotte Hornets are ever in a pinch and need a three-point shooter, they could always sign Dell Curry to a 10-day contract. All jokes aside, he has been one of the best former players with his work in the community, as a commentator, and with fun events like this one. He still has a better shot than half of the NBA.
