Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s daily roundup of the best Charlotte Hornets’ stories from around the web.

Buzz City Beat is your daily destination for the latest and best news from around the internet about the Charlotte Hornets. The team is set to take on the Chicago Bulls as they look to bounce back from their recent loss to the Cavs. In this edition, we look at why we need to vote for Kemba Walker, playing in front of sellout/big crowds, and shooting your shot in the NBA.

Why We Need to Vote for Kemba

“The Charlotte franchise has not had a player in the NBA All-Star Game since Gerald Wallace in 2010 but he was picked as a reserve by the coaches. Baron Davis made an appearance in 2002 but he replaced Vince Carter, who was injured. Back in 2000, Eddie Jones was the last Charlotte player voted into the game by the fans. North Carolina has had some voting controversies in 2016 but this is an easy topic I think we can all agree on. Let’s get Kemba Walker to the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.” (Clture.com)

It will be tough for Walker to make the Eastern Conference All-Star team this season as he faces stiff competition in the form of Isaiah Thomas, John Wall, Kyrie Irving, and Kyle Lowry at the point guard position. Not only is he battling against other point guards to make the team but also other shooting guards as the All-Star team doesn’t separate the two when voting. These are all the more reason to vote for Kemba as he needs every vote he can get to secure his spot.

Playing if Front of Big Crowds

“Time was when the Hornets played worse at home the larger the crowd. Even with Saturday’s 121-109 loss to Cleveland in front of the biggest crowd of the year (19,519), Charlotte is 4-1 this season in home games attended by 19,000 or more fans. It’s the second time in three years, they’ve played better in front of bigger crowds than the smaller ones – and after playing worse in front of crowds of 19,000 or more for eight straight seasons….” (GastonGazette.com)

When the Spectrum Center is sold out of close to sold out, it is clear that the fans have a positive effect on the team. The players feed off of the energy from the crowd and fans can help fuel a big comeback or a large run from the Hornets. They only have five sellouts on the season but with their great play, more are sure to come and that means the electricity in the air on game nights will be even better as Buzz City always keeps The Hive rocking.

Walker’s Creates New Meme to Close Out 2016

“With the Hornets up seven with a minute left in a game against the Heat, Kemba Walker shot a 3, then turned his back and celebrated as it rattled in, only the shot didn’t actually go in, and Kemba celebrated missing a shot, which is probably more entertaining than watching someone celebrating a make, if we’re being all-the-way honest.” (TheRinger.com)

Kemba Walker definitely shot his shot in the dying moments of 2016 and to help ring in the new year. His shimmy was a thing of beauty and having it come after a missed three was all the more entertaining. The Charlotte Hornets’ point guard really wanted to do something cool and in the moment, ended up doing something foolish. Somehow though, by dancing and missing, it may have actually been cooler. Nevertheless, he became an internet meme but a cool pretty cool one, I must add.
