Buzz City Beat is your daily dose of the latest and greatest stories from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

We’ve compiled some of the best stories about the Charlotte Hornets for your daily update about the team. They continue their road trip and look to snap a two-game skid as they take on the Houston Rockets. In this edition, we look at how the Hornets are better than they are playing, Tony Allen voting for Kemba Walker, and Kemba’s tough path to the All-Star Game.

The Hornets are Better Than This

“the reality today is that Charlotte has not played to their potential. 20-18 isn’t a terrible record, and by no means have they been a major disappointment, but the inconsistency, particularly on defense, has made for a few too many frustrating evenings. The opportunity to build off last season remains, but it could be wasted if the Hornets continue to play below what they are capable of.” (AtTheHive.com)

This couldn’t be truer. While I believe that the Charlotte Hornets are better than their current record, at some point, if they continue to play poor, they will become their record whether that be good or bad. If they are a good team like most of us believe, the averages will even out and their record and play will improve.

Tony Allen Submits All-Star Ballot, Including Vote for Kemba

“He then asked, “Where’s Mike Conley at?” Upon being told he was only looking at the Eastern Conference, Allen saw Kemba Walker on his screen — a legitimate pick — clicked his name and then realized he had another vote to fill out the backcourt.” (Sports.Yahoo.com)

In Tony “FIRST TEAM” Allen fashion, the Grizzlies’ guard decided to do his All-Star voting live on Periscope this year. He voted for himself, all of his Memphis teammates in the West, then a weird collection of average players in the East, including Kemba Walker who was the only legitimate player he voted for in the Eastern Conference. He also voted Mo Williams, Luke Babbit, Michael Beasley, and Andre Drummond for the East. We appreciate the vote for the Hornets’ guard.

Walker’s Tough Path to the All-Star Game

“So Walker’s true hopes may lie with the members of the media. These are the people who should have a pretty clear picture about who is worthy and at the same time feel less pressure about homerism. Or we would hope anyway.” (OldNorthBanter.com)

At this point in the fan voting, Kemba’s likely chance at the All-Star game hinges on either the media and players or with the coaches as a reserve player. Not only is he up against a number of other great point guards to make the roster, but the fan voting has also cluttered things up as well. It was always going to be a tough path and an uphill battle for Walker but he is right in the thick of things to make the East’s team for the ASG.
