Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s daily roundup of the best news and stories from around the web surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

While Kemba Walker and Frank Kaminsky are enjoying themselves at All-Star weekend, the rest of the Charlotte Hornets are back in the Queen City preparing for the break to be over. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at Gerald Wallace delighted with Kemba, what Walker’s All-Star appearance means and a conversation with the All-Star point guard.

Wallace Delighted With Kemba

“The things he does on the court, the energy he brings, is kind of amazing,” Wallace said last week when talking about Walker’s selection to Sunday’s 2017 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. “He had a great year last (season). So he’s much deserving.” (GastonGazette.com)

Walker will join Crash, along with five others, as the only Hornets to ever appear in an All-Star game. It speaks volumes that one of Charlotte’s legends in Wallace thinks so highly of Kemba and his all-star season. Gerald was the last all-star from the Queen City team and that was back in 2010 so it is great to have a player that graces the purple and teal back in the mix.

What Walker’s All-Star Appearance Means

“This season has been somewhat disastrous for the Hornets, and it can be hard to find silver linings in the dark raincloud that has seemingly settled over Charlotte in 2017. Perhaps the only real positive has been the wonderful play of Kemba Walker, his All-Star nod and all of the wonderful things that come with that, for both the player and the franchise.” (HashtagBasketball.com)

Kemba’s all-star appearance goes far beyond just a bench spot in a meaningless exhibition. It matters to his legacy, the team because of their all-star drought and for the city of Charlotte after they lost the game this season. Walker’s presence and impact on the all-star weekend help make this season more meaningful for fans even though the team’s play hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
