Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest and best news from around the internet about the Charlotte Hornets.

The NBA’s still in the midst of the All-Star Break but the Charlotte Hornets are only a couple of days away from returning to regular season action. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the team’s path to the middle of the pack, all-access look with Kemba Walker in New Orleans during All-Star Weekend and Greensboro Swarm’s Cat Barber doesn’t look back.

The Path to the Middle of the Pack

“Say hello to the most boring team in the NBA. Most of the teams in this series appear here because of a tragic flaw on one end of the floor or the other. A leaky defense or a misfiring offense is typically the fastest way to be stuck treading water (or worse). The Hornets, however, don’t even have the common courtesy to be outlandishly bad at something.” (RealGM.com)

Brett Koremenos breaks down why Cody Zeller is so important to the Hornets but also gives a dose of harsh reality about the team’s mediocrity. He also makes a case for tanking by unloading contracts to get a good pick and have some flexibility going forward. The conclusion was that Charlotte should stay the course and work their way back to simply being good. I can agree with that. They aren’t that far off of being a decent, middle of the pack team but their lack of cap space flexibility is the most glaring issue at the moment.

All-Access With Kemba in New Orleans

“Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker takes us on a photographic journey through All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.” (ESPN.com)

This behind the scenes look at Kemba during his first all-star experience is really something special. Walker got to enjoy the festivities with his family and friends. While we may hear about the things players do during the all-star break, it is interesting to get an inside look and truly see (through pictures) what the Hornets’ point guard did in New Orleans.

Swarm’s Cat Barber Doesn’t Look Back

“Cat Barber goes with the flow so long as the flow goes forward. Could one more season — perhaps even one beside Smith — had reversed his professional fortunes? “I feel like everything happens for a reason,” Barber said. “No doubts or anything. Even if I did, I’ve got to pull through it, pull forward. Can’t look back now. That’s how I approach stuff — ahead, not behind.” (JournalNow.com)

Credit to Barber for making a decision and not having any regrets. All he can do now is look forward and continue his path to making a career in the NBA. The Greensboro Swarm have welcomed the point guard as he has played well for them since arriving via trade earlier this season.
