As the trade deadline approaches, the Charlotte Hornets continue to be named in trade talks with the latest being for Bojan Bogdanovic.

According to Legion Hoops, “Multiple teams after Bojan Bogdanovic, including the Wizards and Hornets.” This is in relation to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski that “Teams pursuing Brooklyn’s Bojan Bogdanovic suggest they’re ramping up on offers, process moving closer to Nets choosing best available deal.” While the Charlotte Hornets being interested in Bojan is merely a rumor at this point, the team has had some prior interest in the Brooklyn Nets‘ player.

At the trade deadline last season, the Hornets called the Nets to try and get a deal done for Bogdanovic but nothing came of it. (Sporting News) It wouldn’t bee too surprising if Charlotte has an offer on the table for the 6’8 small forward considering their prior interest. General manager Rich Cho has been known to get his guy sooner or later.

Brooklyn’s looking to sell high on Bojan who is averaging a career high in points, rebounds and assists. They will likely be looking for at least a pick and a young player in return. Luckily for Charlotte, they have a number of assets in terms of players and picks to help facilitate a deal.

More from Swarm and Sting

The 27-year old is averaging 14.2 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game for the Nets so far this season. Bojan has started in all but one game this year and is averaging 26.9 minutes per game. He would be able to spread the floor for any team he goes to as Bogdanovic is shooting 44% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point line this season.

Bojan is in the last season of his current three-year, $10.2 million deal. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the year with a $4.4 million qualifying offer. As a restricted free agent, the Hornets (or any team that trades for him) would have the chance to match any offer sheet that he signs in the offseason.

Charlotte has made two moves so far this season, one for Miles Plumlee and one for Chris Andersen/money, but neither of those has made a big impact. Adding Bogdanovic’s shooting could be a boost to not only the bench but also to the team’s scoring which has been a question mark as of late.

Next: Hornets Should Sell at the Trade Deadline

It will be interesting to see if anything happens with this rumor. It is clear that the Nets want to move Bojan but where he will end up is the big question. The Charlotte Hornets are almost certainly interested in adding his shooting but they need to take into account that he is not a great defender or rebounder.
