Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest news from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

After two days rest, the Charlotte Hornets will look to snap their three-game skid against the Washington Wizards. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at Briante Weber trying to create Havoc in the NBA, the team’s latest giveaway and whether or not they should tank.

Briante Weber Trying to Create Havoc at the NBA Level

"“He definitely has that ‘Havoc’ attitude,” Hornets point guard Kemba Walker said of Weber. “He has that energy, offensively and defensively. He’s very positive and has that competitiveness that you love.”"

The trials and tribulations of being in the NBA on a 10-day contract are pretty crazy and we get somewhat of an inside look at what it’s like in this article. Briante Weber and Johnny O’Bryant each earned their way onto the team through 10-day deals but before signing that full contract, they had been living out of suitcases in hotels, unsure of their future. It’s pretty crazy to think about what these guys go through but Weber has a positive outlook saying that he’s “living a dream, so there are no problems.”

The havoc side of things come from Briante’s days in college at VCU. Shaka Smart, his coach at the time, created a “havoc” system and style of play. Now in the NBA, the 24-year old point guard is looking to create havoc with his intense defense and attacking mentality. He’s done something right because Charlotte signed him to a two-year deal after his second 10-day deal expired.

Hornets’ Cam Newton Giveaway

"If you are one of the first 15,000 fans at Saturday night’s Hornets’ game against the Washington Wizards, you’ll get a Cam Newton bobblehead."

Why is this giveaway such a big deal? Because it is the first time that the Hornets have created a bobblehead for a celebrity outside of the organization. Cam Newton has been a regular fixture at a number of home games over the past couple of seasons. He has started to show more and more support for Charlotte and they are now showing their respects and creating some buzz while doing so with this giveaway.

Honestly, this is one of the coolest bobbleheads I’ve seen in some time. There is a little something for everyone as it is Cam Newton in a black “Buzz City” football jersey. Pretty cool idea from the team as fans will be lining up to make sure they get their collector’s item.

Should Charlotte Tank?

"With a playoff spot on the line, the Hornets look shattered, losing four of their last five games. They have been spotty on both offense and defense, and rely too heavily on Kemba Walker. While many fans, including myself, hate to say it, it is appropriate to say that Charlotte is a bad team, leaving many to ponder whether they should tank the rest of the season."

With only about a month left in the season and about a 2% chance to make the playoffs, the Hornets’ only option might be to tank. Their postseason hopes are dwindling and almost gone so losing in order to get a better draft pick might be the best thing that they can hope for. Even if a higher pick isn’t guaranteed, Charlotte should take any chance to get a better one. So am I saying to tank? Yes because even by trying to win, the team still hasn’t gotten a lot of victories and if they do from here on out, it will only hurt their cause.
