While the Charlotte Hornets look for a star to pair with Kemba Walker, the point guard dropped Blake Griffin‘s name as a player that could help the team and himself.

According to QCityMetro.com, Kemba Walker thinks Blake Griffin would be a great fit with the Charlotte Hornets. The All-Star point guard reportedly recently answered a few questions from a small group of fans at 7th street public market. He was asked about free agents who might help the team and him going forward.

Kemba answered, “I think one of the bigger free agents this year is probably Blake Griffin. I think Blake would be a great fit for us. I mean, don’t get y’all’s hopes up. (laughter) It sounds good.” Although Walker dropped Blake’s name, he was realistic by telling fans not to get their hopes up regarding the situation. After all, it is highly unlikely that Griffin will sign with Charlotte.

The Los Angeles Clippers‘ power forward is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. Despite that, the Hornets do not have the cap space to sign Blake who will likely be seeking a max contract. The team would need to clear space by making a number of trades in order to even have a chance at Griffin and that doesn’t look like it will happen.

More from Swarm and Sting

As the Hornets’ star, Kemba will likely have an input on who Charlotte’s front office goes after this summer. Griffin would be an ideal addition for the Hornets as he is the type of superstar they have been searching for. The 28-year old is averaging 21.7 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game and 4.9 assists per game this season.

Walker answered a number of other questions including one about the upcoming NBA Draft. When speaking about the prospects, he said, “There’s a few guys. That kid in Kentucky — Bam (Edrice Adebayo). I like him. I like the way he plays; he’s big. I think Zach Collins from Gonzaga. He’s pretty good.”

Those were the few important notes from the article. Kemba added a few other things like his favorite teammate is apparently Marvin Williams and he was a dancer as a child. While Griffin to Charlotte seems unlikely, Walker wasn’t wrong when he said he thought Blake would be a great fit with the team.

A duo of Kemba and Blake would be an ideal outcome for the Hornets but a lot of things would need to happen in order for that to come to fruition. Walker was probably just thinking out loud but he did drop Griffin’s name above all other potential free agent targets.
