Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

The Washington Wizards won game three against the Boston Celtics to take back one game in their second round series while the Golden State Warriors moved to 2-0 over the Utah Jazz. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at a Charlotte Hornets’ offseason primer, Jeremy Lamb committing himself to getting better this summer and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist‘s cousin getting drafted into the NFL.

Hornets’ Offseason Primer (Twitter/ @HornetsOnFSSE)

"Offseason Primer: #Hornets looking to add complementary pieces for Kemba Walker and their locked-in core."

Like the video said, “this isn’t going to be the big time splash free agent that comes in and helps this team.” Unless a lot of trades happen, the Hornets will only be filling small holes this summer. Their core is locked up for years to come and while that may be a good thing for some teams, it might not be ideal for Charlotte considering they missed the playoffs with this core of players this past season.

Still, the team’s only a few solid pieces away from returning to the postseason. A backup point guard, some shooting and rim protector could land them back in the sixth seed in a year’s time. Although a big name won’t be coming to Charlotte, an under the radar move for a quality player could be just as impactful.

Jeremy Lamb is Committed to Getting Better This Summer (NBA.com)

"He added with regards to his offseason plans, “I’ll probably be in Charlotte a lot. [I want to] just work on things that I felt I didn’t do as good this year. Continue to basically work on every part of my game, on and off the court, and come back next year stronger than ever.”"

It’s good to hear that most players are going to spend the offseason in Charlotte with a clear focus on improving their games. Nicolas Batum has already chosen to skip EuroBasket 2017 with France and Kemba Walker will probably be organizing some summer workout for the team. The more players that buy into practicing together during the offseason and committing to getting better individually, the better the team will be going forward.

Last summer, Lamb worked on his conditioning and being prepared for a full 82 game season. After averaging a career-high 9.7 points per game, he will look to build off of that heading into next year. The Hornets need Jeremy to be at his best because he is one of their main scorers off of the bench.

MKG’s Cousin Gets Drafted by the Houston Texans (Houston.cbslocal.com)

"Bucknell OT Julien Davenport (6’7, 318 lbs) is HUGE. He has an 87.5 inch wing span, had the longest arms at the Senior Bowl (36 inches), and is NBA player Michael Kidd Gilchrist’s cousin."

Next: Hornets Should Go After Darren Collison

Julie’n Davenport was drafted with the 24th pick in the fourth round and 130th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. I guess being athletic runs in the family for MKG and Davenport. Considering how Michael plays basketball (hard work and grit), maybe with a little more weight, he could’ve been in the NFL.
