Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.
The Golden State Warriors took a 3-0 lead in their second round series after defeating the Utah Jazz on the road. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns possibly lining up for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marvin Williams. Also, forecasting draft prospect, Zach Collins, and Thomas Davis’ Charlotte Hornets-inspired Jordans.
Nets, 76ers and Suns lined up for MKG and Marvin Williams? (us.blastingnews.com)
"The Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns are expected to line up for Kidd-Gilchrist and Williams once they hit the trade market."
I wouldn’t put a lot of weight in this rumor. Until it comes from a reliable source, I’ll be skeptical. Still, these three teams could be possible landing spots for MKG and/or Marvin. After all, Brooklyn was after Williams last summer during the brief time that he was a free agent so that one makes sense.
As for the 76ers and the Suns, both of them have a lot of cap space so they do have the means to make a trade happen with the Hornets. These two players will likely be on the trading block this summer as Charlotte looks to create cap space but they won’t let them go just to get rid of them. The team will expect at least a few assets in return. Still, keep an eye on this rumor going forward.
Forecasting Zach Collins (QueenCityHoops.com)
"The top-10 is attainable for Collins. He didn’t start for Gonzaga, but proved in the NCAA Tournament, and especially in the Final 4, how good he is against the best in more playing time. The motor/intensity parlayed with the skill should have Collins threatening to climb above Jarrett Allen by draft night."
Collins has been the player that Charlotte has most been linked to heading into the draft. He is expected to be taken just outside of the top-10 and that is where the Hornets pick is projected. Although, once the lottery takes place, then we will have a clearer sense if Zach is still a possibility for the team.
The big man could be a solid pickup for Charlotte in the lottery but if they move into the top-10, expect the Hornets to go in a different direction. Still, having Collins fall to them at 11 wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen. Only time will tell but Zach’s upside makes him an intriguing prospect this year.

The Carolina Panthers’ linebacker showed off his collection of Hornets-inspired Jordans on his Instagram account and they are indeed fire. Davis is one of the biggest supporters of the Charlotte-based basketball team so it’s only fitting that he deserves these shoes. In the video, Thomas says, “Gotta love being a Jumpman client” so this was obviously a gift from the GOAT, Michael Jordan, himself.
