The Charlotte Hornets, along with a number of other teams, have interviewed freshman guard, Frank Jackson, at the combine.

According to Adam Zagoria, Frank Jackson has interviewed with the Charlotte Hornets. The Duke guard also recently decided to stay in the NBA Draft this season and hire an agent after testing the water at the combine. (Woj) Even though he’s declared, it is still a bit unclear where he will be picked.

During his lone season under Mike Krzyzewski, Jackson averaged 10.9 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 1.7 assists per game. Despite his less than stellar numbers, Frank managed to impress during the combine. During a scrimmage, he put up 13 points and four assists against other draft prospects.

Considering how deep this draft is, Jackson could be either a late first round pick or an early second round selection depending on what team wants to take a chance on the 19-year old. At the Draft Combine, he measured in at 6’3.5″ with shoes and 202 pounds with a 6’7.5″ wingspan and 8’2″ standing reach.

According to DraftExpress.com, Frank is projected to be the 21st pick in next year’s draft. NBADraft.net has the Duke product going at 50th overall in the second round of the 2017 draft. Although, Fran Fraschilla believes Jackson could be a potential first round pick.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up once the draft rolls around on June 22nd. It is highly unlikely that the Hornets would select him with their first-round pick this year as it is the lottery. If he does manage to fall to them in the second round, that would be a more realistic landing spot for him and Charlotte.

The point guard also interviewed with the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Celtics, the Chicago Bulls, the Atlanta Hawks, the Utah Jazz, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New York Knicks at the combine. After his showing at the combine, it looks like plenty of teams is intrigued by Frank. Being only 19-years old, he has plenty of upside but he will likely need a year or two to develop in the D-League.

Next: Potential Second Round Draft Picks

We will keep a close eye on Jackson going forward after this news. He could potentially be a backup option behind Kemba Walker either next year or in a few season’s time depending on his development. One thing that is clear, is that the Charlotte Hornets are interested.
