Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

The Western Conference Finals are set to get underway with the Golden State Warriors taking on the San Antonio Spurs. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at draft prospect Sindarius Thornwell talking about potentially playing for the Charlotte Hornets, a possible trade for Dwight Howard and Kemba Walker being a mama’s boy.

Thornwell talks about the Hornets (TheState.com)

"Thornwell attended plenty of Charlotte Hornets games growing up but was never a fan of any one team, he said. That will change a little more than a month from now. “I like everybody, and whoever drafts me, that will be my favorite team,” he joked. “I don’t really have a preference.”"

Even though Sindarius wasn’t a Hornets’ fan growing up, I’m sure most Charlotte fans would welcome him if the team drafted him. The shooting guard is coming off a season where he averaged 21.4 points per game. The University of South Carolina product is a projected second-round pick in the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft by both DraftExpress.com and NBADraft.net.

Charlotte would get great value for their pick if they were able to select him in the second round. He could give them a consistent wing scorer one a cheap contract which might make Marco Belinelli or Jeremy Lamb expendable. I love Thornwell’s answer though, he already has the veteran savvy to handle the media correctly.

Should Charlotte trade for Dwight Howard? (Atlanta.CBSLocal.com)

"The deal: Marvin Williams, Miles Plumlee & the 11th pick for Howard & maybe No. 19. “I’m not crazy about Williams or Plumlee, but I’m crazy about the 11th pick,” said Kamla."

A trade for Dwight would never involve the Hornets’ lottery pick. Even NBA executives believe that he is only worth a second round pick and cap relief. A deal involving Marvin, Miles and a second round pick in exchange for Howard would be ideal but even then, Charlotte still might not bite.

With the emergence of Cody Zeller and D-12’s decline, the Hornets may already have the better option at center. While Dwight can still dominate at times, he isn’t the play that he once was and he isn’t getting any better with age. Charlotte’s best bet is to steer clear of Howard and stick with Cody going forward.

Kemba Walker is a Mama’s Boy (Twitter/ @Hornets)

"“All guys are close to their moms, or SHOULD BE at least.” -@KembaWalker on being a Mama’s boy. Happy Mother’s Day, moms of #BuzzCity!"

Kemba and his mom talked about their relationship for a special Mother’s Day edition video. It turns out that Walker is a mama’s boy which should surprise absolutely no one. She is his biggest fan and always at every home game, standing up and cheering for her son. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
