The Charlotte Hornets will be represented by their general manager at the 2017 NBA Draft lottery as they hope the ping pong balls fall their way this year.

Rich Cho is set to represent the Charlotte Hornets at the NBA Draft Lottery this year. This will be the second time that the team’s general manager will represent them with the last one coming back in 2012. The lottery will take place on May 16th.

Charlotte had the 11th worst record in the league this past season. They only have a 0.8% chance of getting the first overall pick and a 2.9% of getting a top three pick. The Hornets will most likely end up with the 11th pick as they have a 90.7% of landing there and a 97% chance of getting either 11 or 12. (HoopsHabit.com)

In 2012, Charlotte had the worst record in the NBA but they failed to land the top pick despite having a 25% chance. After that, Rich was seen as a bad luck charm because the then-Bobcats didn’t get the first overall pick even though they were coming off of the worst season in league history. Hopefully, they will have better luck this time around.

More from Swarm and Sting

Since Cho last represented the Hornets, Fred Whitfield (2013) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2015) have taken part in the lottery process. The team is back in the lottery after making the playoffs last year. With their lottery pick this year, Charlotte will be hoping to bounce back and get back into the postseason.

Charlotte’s GM will join Wyc Grousbeck (Boston Celtics), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Magic Johnson (Los Angeles Lakers), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Frank Vogel (Orlando Magic), Andrew Wiggins (Minnesota Timberwolves), Walt Frazier (New York Knicks), Dave Joerger (Sacramento Kings), Michael Finley (Dallas Mavericks), Alvin Gentry (New Orleans Pelicans), Jeff Bower (Detroit Pistons), Gary Harris (Denver Nuggets) and Alonzo Mourning (Miami Heat). Boston, who holds the Brooklyn Nets‘ pick this year, have the best chance of getting the first pick at 25%. They are followed by the Suns and the Lakers.

It will be interesting to see where the Charlotte Hornets’ pick ends up this year. Even though they don’t have the best odds, Cho may be able to give them a bit of luck.
