The Charlotte Hornets met with projected first round pick Terrance Ferguson while in Chicago for the NBA Draft Combine.

According to Chicago.CBSlocal.com, Terrance Ferguson met with the Charlotte Hornets at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. He met with a total of 13 NBA teams during the event. The former McDonald’s All-American spent the past year in Australia after choosing to play professionally overseas as opposed to staying stateside to play for the University of Arizona where he originally committed.

DraftExpress.com projects the shooting guard prospect to be selected by the Orlando Magic with the 25th overall pick in the first round. NBADraft.net has Ferguson going as high as 13th overall to the Denver Nuggets in the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft. Looking at the projections, Terrance is clearly a first round talent but it is a guess as to where he will land as it could be anywhere from the lottery to late in the first round.

Looking at those projections, it would probably be a reach for the Hornets to take him with their lottery pick. If he is still available during the second round, which is a pretty big if, Charlotte may look to pick the Oklahoma native. Considering his talent, Ferguson will likely be off the board at some point in the first round.

More from Swarm and Sting

In 30 games with the Adelaide 36ers, the 19-year old averaged 4.6 points per game, 1.2 rebounds per game and 0.6 assists per game. Those low numbers come from him only playing 15.1 minutes per game. Although, he did manage to shoot 44.4% from inside the three-point line and 31.3% from beyond the arc.

At the Draft Combine, Ferguson measured in at 6’7″ with shoes and 184 pounds so he will definitely need to put on some muscle to have enough strength at the NBA level. He also had a 6’8¾” wingspan with an 8’7″ standing reach. He recorded a 28.5″ no step vert and a 38″ max vert.

Terrance would be a project pick as he will probably need a couple of years to develop in the D-League. Still, the potential is there. After all, he is a former five-star recruit who had offers from North Carolina, NC State, Louisville, Kansas, Florida and Baylor. A team will surely be willing to take a chance on Ferguson in the draft because of his upside.

During the combine, Terrance also met with the Chicago Bulls, the Philadelphia 76ers, the San Antonio Spurs, the Sacramento Kings, the Atlanta Hawks, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

If the Charlotte Hornets could somehow trade for a late first round pick, Ferguson could definitely be an option for them. They could use a young, athletic wing player like Terrance on their roster, especially considering his potential.
