Draft prospect P.J. Dozier to workout with the Charlotte Hornets
With pre-draft workout right around the corner, the Charlotte Hornets have scheduled one with P.J. Dozier out of South Carolina.
According to 247Sports.com, P.J. Dozier has a June pre-draft workout set up with the Charlotte Hornets. The sophomore out of South Carolina has workouts set up with multiple NBA teams as well. It is unclear when the workout will take place but the Hornets’ are scheduled to begin their pre-draft workout process on June 1st.
After two years at the University of South Carolina, P.J. decided to test the waters of the professional game. He hired an agent and decided to end his college career. It seems that he may have made the right decision because the shooting guard is picking up steam and has already worked out for a number of teams with more to come.
DraftExpress.com projects Dozier to be a second round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. They have him being selected by the Indiana Pacers at 47th overall in their latest mock. As for NBADraft.net, they have him going as high as 26th overall to the Portland Trail Blazers int he first round. Late-first to mid-second round is a likely landing spot for him.

The 6’6 guard is coming off of a season where he averaged 13.9 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists while helping the Gamecocks make a surprising Final Four appearance. At the NBA Draft Combine, Dozier measured in at 6’6¾” with shoes and 201 pounds with a 6’11” wingspan and an 8’5″ standing reach. He also recorded a 34″ no step vert and a 39″ max vertical.
P.J. worked out with five teams, including the Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls, before the Combine and has worked out for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Orlando Magic, the San Antonio Spurs and the Boston Celtics since.
He also has workouts scheduled with the Toronto Raptors, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Pelicans. (This is all according to 247Sports.)

For the Hornets, Dozier would likely be an option in the second round. They currently hold the 41st overall pick. If he falls there, Charlotte will definitely give him a look provided that he impresses during their workout.

The Charlotte Hornets will surely work out other players alongside P.J. but it is unclear who they will be at this time. For now, the 20-year old guard is an intriguing prospect with a number of teams looking at him.
