In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at who the Charlotte Hornets will host in second pre-draft workout, why this year’s draft pick is so important and Cody Zeller‘s family puts

Hornets’ host second pre-draft workout (NBA.com)

"In preparation for the 2017 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets host their second draft workout on June 10."

The team is set to host Amile Jefferson (Duke), Kyle Kuzma (Utah), Nigel Williams-Goss (Gonzaga), Derrick Walton Jr. (Michigan), Torian Graham (Arizona State) and Antonio Blakeney (LSU) in their second pre-draft workout. Of these six prospects, Kuzma and Williams-Goss are the two highest rated players with each projected to go in the second round this year. (DraftExpress.com) One name that stands out is Jefferson who played four years at Duke.

If Charlotte chooses to look at forwards, Kyle is a realistic option for them in the second round. Among the guards, Nigel is the top prospect and should be available when the Hornets select at No. 41. As for Amile, I could see him getting an extended look being a Duke product. If he goes undrafted, Jefferson could be a good addition to the team’s summer league roster.

This year’s draft pick is an important one for Charlotte (HashtagBasketball.com)

"With Charlotte severely underperforming this season, it’s clear that changes need to be made to the roster. And with so much money already on the books, the easiest way to make that change is through the draft."

Rich Cho and the Hornets can’t afford to miss with their lottery pick this year. After so many poor draft choices and the team looking to get back into playoff contention, this selection will have a big impact on their success going forward. Also, their GM is likely fighting for his job this season so that makes it all the more important.

While finding a star would be nice, it isn’t necessarily expected. All Charlotte needs to do is make sure they get a role player with some potential who can have an immediate impact. Their track record doesn’t give fans much hope but this deep draft class could help. June 22nd will be an important date for this franchise.

Cody Zeller and his family put together basketball camp  (RiverBender.com)

"Three well-known basketball brothers – Luke, Cody and Tyler Zeller – and their family realized this and put together an organization called DistinXion in 2009 to help teach character and sporting skills."

It’s great to see Cody and his family using their influence in the community for good. There is nothing more rewarding than helping out children so credit to Zeller for doing just that. It is also a great opportunity for the youth to learn valuable skills.
