The Charlotte Hornets have reportedly been involved with multiple teams about potential trades leading up to the 2017 NBA Draft.

According to Chris Kroeger, Rich Cho said that the “team has already been approached about multiple trades and team has also proposed trades to other teams.” The Charlotte Hornets‘ GM revealed the news at a recent press conference. The team appears to be very active leading up to the this year’s draft.

Cho also said “that the #hornets have gotten a lot of calls for the 11th overall pick. He thinks they’ll have even more interest next week.” (@MollyESPN730) While there were no specifics given regarding teams or players, it seems like there is plenty of interest surrounding the Hornets.

Heading into the 2017 NBA Draft, Charlotte holds the 11th and 41st overall pick. It isn’t all that surprising that the team is involved in trade talks leading up to the draft as just about every organization in the league is (or at least should be) shopping and guaging the market. The Hornets are simply fielding calls and doing their due diligence.

There are multiple options for the team including trading up, moving down, trading one of their players for a pick or making a trade for a player like they did with the Marco Belinelli deal last year. Of course, there is always the choice to decline trade offers and stay with the picks they have.

If the Hornets were to trade their first round pick, it wouldn’t be unlike them as they have traded three in the last six drafts. Charlotte moved Malachi Richardson (2016), Shabazz Napier (2014) and Tobias Harris (2011) in draft day deals.

Although, a potential trade may not involve their first round pick at all. Rich Cho and the team may be looking to make a salary dump move. All options are on the table leading up to the draft.

If nothing else, it’s good to hear that other teams are interested in Charlotte’s picks and/or players.
