Jordan Brand jerseys are finally here as the Charlotte Hornets’ announced their “new” uniform designs for the 2017-18 season.

The Charlotte Hornets have unveiled their new Jordan Brand uniforms on their official website. The release included two jerseys, one white and one teal. With all of the hype surrounding the video announcement, fans expected more but fear not as this will not be the last jersey release for the team this season.

In reality, these uniforms aren’t much of a change from last season’s as the only major difference is the Jordan Brand logo on the top right corner. Although, there are a few other subtle changes. Chris Kroeger noted that teal is now a primary color for the team and the teal uniforms now read “HORNETS” as opposed to “CHARLOTTE” like they did in the past.

With NIKE now taking over for ADIDAS as the official jersey manufacturer for the NBA, it has allowed the Hornets’ to use a Jordan Brand logo as opposed to the NIKE swoosh. Charlotte will be the only team to wear something other than the NIKE logo.

According to the release, the traditional white uniforms will now be known as “Association Edition” uniforms. Road uniforms will now be known as “Icon edition” jerseys and will be the team’s primary color. NIKE and the NBA are also doing away with home and away jerseys this season as home teams will be able to decide what they want to wear on a night to night basis.

Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist were used as the models for the unveil as the all-star point guard sported the teal uniform while MKG wore the white jersey.

Each team will have four primary uniforms for the 2017-18 season. Charlotte still has two jerseys left to unveil this summer. According to NIKE, one will be inspired by the “Athlete’s mindset” while the other will be “inspired by the community.”

It has been rumored that one of the jerseys will be a throwback with pinstripes.

Kemba Walker talked about how much he loves the look and feel of the new Hornets’ gear in his Captain’s Blog.

Although the announcement was rather anticlimactic, this is just the start of something much bigger as the future uniform releases should receive more praise. Also, NIKE is doing away with sleeved jerseys meaning that the Buzz City alternates will either be discontinued or not have sleeves. Here’s hoping that we see pinstripes in the near future.
