Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest and greatest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

Kemba Walker scored 10 points for Team World against Team Africa in the NBA’s exhibition game in South Africa. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets‘ throwback uniforms being confirmed, grading each move the team made and Gilbert Arenas having some of Michael Jordan‘s old gear from Washington.

"Through a contact of mine with close knowledge of the situation, I have obtained the list of eight teams to be included plus the list of eras from which the uniform design will come from."

We’ve already seen the image of the Hornets’ throwback with the Jordan Brand logo that started the rumors and brought excitement. Now it is confirmed that Charlotte will be one of only eight teams in the NBA to wear a classic uniform next season along with the Hawks, the Warriors, the Pacers, the Lakers, the Heat, the Bucks and the Suns. The Hornets’ classic jersey will be from the 1989-96 era which coincides with the pinstripe throwback.

With only eight teams getting classic jerseys, it’s pretty special that Charlotte will be one of the select few. Each NBA team will get four uniforms but these eight teams will get a fifth throwback. This means that the Hornets will get the teal jersey, the white jersey, the throwback and two additional ones that haven’t been discussed.

Grading each move Charlotte made this summer (HashtagBasketball.com)

"To recap, the Hornets got a B- in trades, a B in free agency, and an A in the draft, which gives them an overall grade of: Overall Offseason Grade: B+"

According to the article, the best move the Hornets made was drafting Malik Monk at No. 11 as that got an “A+.” On the other hand, the worst move was trading down from the 31st pick in the second round to the 40th as they received a “C-” for that move citing that they could’ve gotten a  future second instead of money. While I agree that Charlotte could’ve gotten more, they made the move with money in mind as they were looking to stay under the luxury tax.

As for every other move, the Dwight Howard deal got an “A” while the Michael Carter-Williams signing was graded a “B+” and the selection of Dwayne Bacon saw them yield an “A” grade. All in all, it was a strong summer for the team and they made the most out of what they had which was limited cap space.

Agent Zero has MJ’s old Washington Wizards’ gear (Socia Media)

"Looks like Gilbert Arenas still has some of Michael Jordan’s old Wizards gear"

Next: Rumor: Hornets offer Stone a two-year deal

Gilbert must be quite the MJ fan as he has amassed an exclusive collection of throwback memorabilia. Aside from the Wizards’ warm-up and #23 practice jersey, there was an old pair of UNC shorts shown in his Instagram story. If Arenas really is going to pass those down, I’ll take one of those historic pieces.
