Boston announces two preseason games against Charlotte (BostonHerald.com)
"The Celtics announced their four-game preseason schedule today, a pair of home-and-home contests against the Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers."
Although the Hornets haven’t yet released their full preseason schedule, three different games have been announced. They will play one match against their division rivals in the Miami Heat on October 9th. The Celtics announced four games on their preseason tour with two of them being against Charlotte.
Expect around 3-5 more games to be announced for the Hornets once their preseason schedule is released. The two teams met twice last preseason as well with Boston winning both by more than 14 points. It will be interesting to see who else they line up to go against this preseason.
Upcoming player milestones (BasketballInsiders.com)
"Dwight Howard (23rd all-time) is the active player with the most career rebounds… if he repeats that in 2017-2018 it’s possible for him to finish the season as high 16th on the all-time rebounds list."
Not only will Dwight move into the top-20 in career rebounds this season but he could also do the same for blocks. He’s 23rd all-time in blocks and getting between 90 and 130 this year would put him around or over 2,000 for his career which would make him top-20 all-time. Howard’s had an impressive career and his case for being a first ballot Hall of Famer will continue to grow with Charlotte.
The most important thing for the Hornets’ new big man is staying healthy. He can only reach these marks if he plays consistently. In terms of team records, Kemba Walker will pass Gerald Wallace for third all-time in games, Wallace for third all-time in minutes played and Dell Curry for first all-time in three-point field goals made, move into fifth all-time in defensive rebounds, second in field goals made, second in assists and possibly first in points scored. The #1 play of the Hornets’ season was when Kemba Walker put the entire Atlanta Hawks’ defense in the spin cycle. Marvin Williams’ monster dunk over Bismack Biyombo came in at #2 while Cody Zeller‘s poster over Nikola Jokic was just behind those two. The most surprising appearance was Ramon Sessions who came in at #8 with his dunk against the Knicks. All in all, good list.
