"@EricPincus: Added summer contracts (Ex 9/10) for TJ Williams/Isaiah Hicks + 2-ways for Paige"
Charlotte signed both T.J. Williams and Isaiah Hicks to training camp deals this summer. Their $815k deals for this season are non-guaranteed. They will each likely be waived at some point during the preseason before the regular season begins.
As for Marcus Paige and Mangok Mathiang, they will each be on two-way player deals. Paige’s is for one-year while Mathiang’s is for two. They are each guaranteed $50,000 but will make $4,608 for every day that they spend with the Hornets in the NBA and $528 for every day in the G-League with the Greensboro Swarm.
MJ helps buy Miami Marlins (Uproxx.com)
"The report indicates that Jeter is partnering with Bruce Sherman, a businessman from New York, to fund the $1.2 billion price tag for the baseball franchise. Charlotte Hornets majority owner Michael Jordan is a part of the investment group that will be pulling the trigger on a deal."
It looks like Michael Jordan will now be the owner of two professional sports franchises. The Hornets’ owner will branch out into baseball as a minority owner of the Miami Marlins along with Derek Jeter and an investment group. The partnership makes sense since Jeter is a Jordan Brand athlete.
Forbes estimated the Marlins’ value at around $940 million. MJ has shown that he can help a team’s value grow as he purchased the Hornets back in 2010 for only $275 million and now their estimated worth is at $780 million. (Obviously, there are many other factors involved.) This will most likely end up being a good investment for Jordan.
Mathiang on following his dreams to the NBA (smh.com.au)
"The then 17 year old moved to a US prep school in 2011 and discovered, despite his height and athleticism, he was the worst player on his team. With hard work and a relentless mindset, he developed his game and earlier this month the now 24 year old signed with NBA club Charlotte Hornets."

It’s been a long and fairly remarkable journey from Australia to the league for Mangok. He always had the physical tools to be an NBA level player but it’s taken time for Mathiang to learn the game and develop his skill set. You could even say that at 24-years old, he’s still developing. It will be interesting to see how much time, if any, he spends with the Hornets.
