Welcome to Buzz City Beat, a daily roundup of the best articles from around the internet surrounding the Charlotte Hornets.

The Los Angeles Lakers were fined $500k by the NBA for tampering with Paul George. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets hiring Eddie Jordan, a Kobe challenge for Kemba Walker and Johnny O’Bryant‘s anime project.

Charlotte to hire Eddie Jordan as assistant coach (CharlotteObserver.com)

"Eddie Jordan, formerly a head coach with three NBA franchises, is close to joining the Charlotte Hornets as an assistant to Steve Clifford, the Observer has learned. The Hornets are finalizing a contract for Jordan, an NBA source said. Jordan would fill the role formerly held by Bob Weiss, who recently joined the staff of the Denver Nuggets."

With an opening on the bench, Steve Clifford is filling the assistant coach role left by Bob Weiss with Eddie Jordan. The 62-year old played seven seasons in the NBA and after retiring, he started his coaching career in 1986. He has been a head coach in the league on three separate occasions for the Kings, Wizards and 76ers.

Jordan has worked as an assistant with the Kings, Nets and most recently the Lakers in 2013. His last coaching stint was at the collegiate level with Rutgers. After losing associate head coach Patrick Ewing and assistant Bob Weiss this past season, this is a great addition to Charlotte’s coaching staff.

Kobe challenge for Kemba Walker (BleacherReport.com)

"Walker was tremendous and that production earned him his first trip to the NBA All-Star Game in February. With that goal accomplished, Walker now should aim to make one of the league’s three All-NBA teams."

The next logical step in Walker’s career is to make an All-NBA team. With all of the great guard talent in the league, it may prove to be a difficult task but as the article pointed out, Kemba will need some luck on his side. Isaiah Thomas‘ injury could open up a spot while star-studded backcourts in Toronto and Houston could hurt the individuals in them.

If the Hornets’ point guard continues to improve his numbers like he has each of the past two seasons, another trip to the all-star game is more than likely. An All-NBA Third Team appearance isn’t out of the question but Walker will face some stiff competition. Only six players in franchise history have made an All-NBA team with the last being Al Jefferson in 2014.

Johnny O’Bryant launches anime creation “Primus 7” with Kickstarter campaign (CrunchyRoll.com)

"Noir Caesar Entertainment (NSZR), founded and owned by National Basketball League (NBA) Player, Johnny O’Bryant III, is proud to announce the release of the highly-anticipated, full-length trailer for the company’s very first animated series “Primus 7: The Movie”, along with the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project."

Next: What if LeBron joins Charlotte in 2018?

O’Bryant clearly has other interests outside of basketball and this is a pretty amazing side job for the NBA big man that he can continue to grow once his days in the league are over. The company is looking to raise $125,000. With this project, Johnny is looking to do something different in the anime field by introducing hip-hop and other aspects from his upbringing.
