Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

The team released their promotional schedule for the 2017-18 season. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets unveiling their throwback uniforms, Kemba Walker‘s ceiling and a Frank Kaminsky themed stormtrooper bobblehead.

Hornets unveil throwback uniforms (NBA.com)

"The Charlotte Hornets today unveiled their Classic edition uniforms for the 2017-18 season, bringing back the design worn by the original Charlotte Hornets from their inception in 1988 through 1997."

The highly anticipated official release of the Hornets’ throwback uniforms is finally here. Unfortunately, the team will only wear the pinstripe jerseys three times in the 2017-18 season (Nov. 15 vs Cavs on ESPN, Dec. 23 vs Milwaukee and January 13 vs OKC). Still, these jerseys will probably be flying off the shelves when they are made available to the public for purchase.

Expect Charlotte to wear the uniforms a lot more next season as it will be the 30th anniversary of the uniform. While they aren’t exact replicas of the jerseys that Muggsy Bogues, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Dell Curry and many others made famous back in the day, they are similar with an upgraded look. The Jordan logo is front and center on them as well.

Kemba Walker’s ceiling for the 2017-18 season (FanRagSports.com)

"Walker was an All-Star last year, and with the openings vacated by players moving West this year, he probably won’t lose that status. Making consecutive All-Star Games tends to raise more consciousness in the public view. A repeat All-Star would likely be a consensus top-30 player."

Kemba has climbed through the ranks the past couple of years. After back to back career seasons and an all-star appearance, Walker has solidified himself as one of the best point guards in the NBA. Being ranked #37, by this panel, means that he still has ways to go before breaking into the top-25.

I would argue that he’s already reached that mark. Sports Illustrated has him at No. 29 in their top-100 player ranking. The point guard is by far the best player on the Hornets but having another career-best season coupled with an all-star appearance and playoff berth would probably be enough to push him into the top-25.

Charlotte to giveaway Frank Kaminsky Stormtrooper bobblehead (LandOf10.com)

"A Frank Kaminsky Stormtrooper bobblehead will be given away to the first 7,500 fans on Dec. 9 in Charlotte. One wonders if the Star Wars universe even has stormtrooper uniforms big enough for the 7-foot Kaminsky."

The Hornets will take on the Los Angeles Lakers when they give away the stormtrooper bobblehead. With all of the hype surrounding LA this year, this is a good game to target. Kaminsky said that this is “one sexy bobblehead” and we’d have to agree with the big man.
