Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

Bruno Mars was at the team’s practice facility getting some shots up. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets‘ “Statement” uniforms for the 2017-18 season, Michael Carter-Williams already back at practice following a knee procedure and Dwight Howard feeling at his best.

"The NBA season is about a month away, and the off-season is marching on with more news of the new Nike uniforms. This time, it’s the “Statement” jerseys (previously this would known as the “third uniform”) for each team. Note that Nike’s original press release referred to these uniforms as the “Athlete’s Mindset,” but apparently that nomenclature has changed."

The Hornets’ “Statement” uniforms for the 2017-18 season resemble that of their away jerseys from last year as they are purple with teal trim. The only difference being that the chest reads “Charlotte” instead of “Hornets.” The team has already announced three jerseys for next season with the white and teal primaries being their home and away while their throwbacks are with pinstripes.

All four jerseys will have the Jordan “Jumpman” logo. That will set them apart from the rest of the league as every other NBA team will have the Nike “Swoosh” logo. The Hornets are one of only eight teams that will have five different uniform choices for this season. The “Community” edition one for Charlotte has not yet been released so keep an eye out for that final one.

"Michael Carter-Williams “left knee procedure” was stem cell therapy – likely for arthritis. Already back practicing."

After undergoing a procedure on both knees in August, Carter-Williams’ status for the season opener in October was in doubt. While it is still unclear if he will be able to play on October 18th against the Detroit Pistons, it is a positive sign that he is already back practicing. With more than a month until the season starts, there is still plenty of time for Michael to get healthy and in shape.

If MCW is forced to miss any time, Julyan Stone or Malik Monk (if he’s healthy), will fill in as Kemba Walker‘s backup. Although we will have to wait and see, my guess would be that the former Rookie of the Year will be good to go on opening night. Steve Clifford and the Hornets won’t rush him back.

"“I’m in a much better place mentally, physically and spiritually than I have been in a couple of years.”"

This is a great sign for both Howard and the Hornets. Being in the right state of mind and being comfortable can go a long way for a player in the NBA. Hopefully, this means that Dwight will bounce back and have a strong season for Charlotte. Having a familiar face like Steve Clifford coaching him could be the difference maker for the eight-time all-star.
