The Charlotte Hornets have added wing depth to their roster with their latest signing of an undrafted guard out of NC State.

According to Keith Smith of Real GM, “the Charlotte Hornets have signed Terry Henderson.” The 6’4 guard went undrafted this year and was denied a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. Excluding two-way contracts, this signing brings the Hornets’ roster count up to 17 players.

Henderson was injured only seven minutes into his junior year with NC State and that’s why he was trying to receive a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. The North Carolina native played four years in college spending his first two with West Virginia and his final two with NC State.

During his senior season, Terry averaged 13.8 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists while starting all 32 games. He also managed to shoot 43.3% from the field, 38.4% from three and 76.9% from the free throw line. The shooting guard was second on the team in PPG, third in APG and first in three-point shooting.

More from Swarm and Sting

Henderson was arguably the Wolfpack’s second best player last year behind only lottery pick Dennis Smith Jr.

This signing gives Charlotte more wing depth for training camp and preseason. Terry becomes the team’s seventh wing playing along with Dwayne Bacon, Nicolas Batum, Malik Monk, Treveon Graham, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeremy Lamb.

While it’s unlikely that he makes the Hornets’ final 15-man regular season roster, he could impress the front office enough to potentially earn a spot on their D-League roster with the Greensboro Swarm.

If nothing else, Henderson will provide more competition during camp. He has good length and shooting for the two guard spot. While the terms of the deal were not released, his contract is probably a summer one meaning that it is only partially guaranteed.

Here’s a look at some of his best plays while at NC State:

As you can see, he has good athleticism to go along with his size and while he can attack the rim, Henderson lives off of his shooting touch from the outside.

We could see a couple glimpses of the NC State product during preseason which is set to begin on October 2nd for the Charlotte Hornets as they take on the Boston Celtics. They will play in five total preseason games with two being at home and their fourth one on ESPN (Oct. 11th).
