Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

Dwight’s got jokes as he comments on Malik Monk‘s Instagram post. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the squad trying to bounce back with the addition of Dwight Howard, if Michael Jordan and this Charlotte Hornets’ team could beat LeBron James and the first look at the team’s new players in purple and teal.

Charlotte looks to bounce back into playoffs with Dwight (FanRagSports.com)

"Charlotte is fortunate it added talent while others — the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls — have lost All-Stars. The East is as weak as ever, and the Hornets are a good bet to make the playoffs. A return to the postseason would boost morale and keep seats cool, but this season is also about taking stock of what they have, and where they should go from there."

For better or worse, Dwight will play a big role in the Hornets’ success this season. If they fail to live up to expectations, a majority of the blame will fall on his shoulders. Even though he isn’t what he used to be in his prime, Howard is still a big name player who can maybe be the second best player on Charlotte’s roster this year.

While other players will play key roles, “Superman” will be front and center. Even though the Hornets are mostly an under the radar team, anything big that Dwight does, good or bad, will most likely get blown out of proportion by the national media. Charlotte hasn’t had a player of Howard’s magnitude for some time. Hopefully, it ends up being for the best.

Skip Bayless thinks MJ and this Hornets team could beat LeBron, Kyrie and the Cavs (FOXSports.com)

"Skip thinks MJ and the Hornets could take down LeBron"

Prime Michael Jordan on this Charlotte team would be intriguing, to say the least. The LeBron James and Kyrie Irving-led Cleveland Cavaliers made it to three straight NBA Finals. They would be a tough out but a backcourt of Kemba Walker and MJ may be enough to get the job done in today’s NBA.

Who knows who would win but it would be a fun matchup. In a best of seven, I’m not betting against the GOAT but consider that LeBron has been to seven straight Finals, it’s hard to go against him. Whatever the case is for this hypothetical matchup, at least the Hornets are getting some national media attention from Skip Bayless and FS1.

"The 31-year-old made a media appearance recently to give the Charlotte faithful a glimpse of the future, as he donned the Hornets colors for the first time. He proudly wore the new uniforms, and gamely posed in front of photographers."

This is Dwight’s fifth different NBA uniform in his illustrious career. Aside from Howard, we also got our first look at Dwayne Bacon in a Hornets’ jersey and Marcus Paige (Scout.com) who is on a two-way contract. The new jerseys look great but the throwback ones are really something special.
