Buzz City Beat is Swarm and Sting’s one stop for the latest news and stories from around the web about the Charlotte Hornets.

If you haven’t heard by now, the big news around the league is Carmelo Anthony waiving his no-trade clause and being dealt from the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder joining Russell Westbrook and Paul George. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the Charlotte Hornets‘ mystery man, Michael Carter-Williams weighing in on the Golden State Warriors/NBA/Donald Trump situation and a former player getting traded.

"I fully expect MCW to be a huge part of this Hornet squad as a whole. We should not limit him to a simple bench role, but also see the possibilities of him next to Kemba in late-game stretches. MCW’s size and experience will play a huge role, and I can easily envision him becoming an important x-factor for the Hornets going into the season."

Looking at the Hornets’ roster, they have plenty of players who could be labeled a mystery. Being a former lottery pick and Rookie of the Year makes MCW the biggest mystery on the team. He had loads of success coming out of Syracuse but he’s cooled off since then and has been traded twice in three years and will be joining his fourth different team in as many seasons.

Although the momentum and potential surrounding Carter-Williams has stalled, he is still only 25-years old and could still prove to be a vital role player on a playoff contending team like Charlotte. Michael is coming off of a career-worst season but can Steve Clifford get those most out of the once promising prospect? That will be the mystery around MCW until the season begins.

MCW weighs in on Golden State’s White House visit (Twitter/ @MCW1)

"GSW should have a nice little dinner with Obama and his family."

Charlotte native and Warriors’ superstar Stephen Curry has not been quiet about his dislike for the President of the United States. Since Golden State was hesitant in their decision on whether or not to visit the White House this year, Donald Trump rescinded the offer. But can someone really take away an offer that was going to be declined?

Anyways, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant and many other NBA players voiced their opinions on social media. MCW was mostly quiet but the message he tweeted was clear. So far, he’s the only Hornets’ player to speak out regarding this situation.

Former Hornet, Troy Daniels, gets traded to the Phoenix Suns (Shams)

"Memphis is finalizing deal to send guard Troy Daniels to Phoenix for a future second-rounder pick, league sources tell The Vertical."

Next: What other sports could Hornets' players play?

Daniels spent two seasons of his career in Charlotte as a role player for the team. He had his best year since his rookie season in 2017-18 after being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite averaging 8.2 points per game and shooting almost 40% from three, Troy has been traded for the second straight offseason. Best of luck to the former Hornet.
