1. Three players have put in work this summer
Steve Clifford praised a trio of Hornets for the offseason work that they put in. Frank Kaminsky, Cody Zeller and Jeremy Lamb were all commended for the time they spent in the gym this summer. They’ve apparently made the most of their time off this year and are looking to make the next step in their careers.
This could be a make or break season for all three. Lamb, a player with once high potential, is clinging to a bench role that could be taken over by rookies Malik Monk and Dwayne Bacon. As for Kaminsky, he will be entering his third year in the league and Frank has yet to attain a starting level role. Not just that but he is up for a contract extension soon so his play could loom large when it comes to contract negotiations. Cody Zeller lost his starting spot to Dwight Howard and while he will still play a big role off the bench, he must show he will not be easily replaced.
Jeremy was being admired for his commitment to getting better this offseason earlier in the summer. Rick Bonnell noted that “you can tell a difference in Jeremy Lamb. Seems more mature and assertive in how he perceives himself at the NBA level.” Kemba Walker also said that Lamb is no longer “the little, skinny kid” he knew in college.
