Unfortunately, it’s time to say goodbye to our “dream team” and return to reality. What have we learned?

This was an interesting little experiment. It was a fairly difficult one, as well, for multiple reasons. Rewriting history is a complex ordeal and there are so many factors one must take into account. Using as many metrics as I could, I wanted to be as scientific about this, but a lot of this is based solely on conjecture, speculation, and just plain guessing.

For instance, who’s to say we’d even be able to keep all these players? Would they have all panned out the same playing in Charlotte as they did on their real-life teams? A lot of how players evolve is predicated upon the right coach, system, and teammates. What ifs are rarely an exact science and a lot of the time, you have to heavily suspend your disbelief.

What this does show, however, is that Charlotte desperately needs to hire a GM that knows how to draft. There are few surefire players, obviously, but some of the picks we did choose really make you wonder what the organization was thinking. Again, it’s not easy to know which players will all pan out, but Charlotte especially has had some bad drafts.

Overall, though, this was fun and even though it’s a bit depressing thinking about what might have been, someday we’ll get ours. Right? I certainly think so. Here’s hoping we find our next star in June.
