Charlotte Hornets top the Indiana Pacers in season finale, 119-93

Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Hornets end the 2017-18 regular season on a high note as they take down the Indiana Pacers.

The Charlotte Hornets (36-46) were able to defeat the Indiana Pacers (48-34) as they finished the season with a victory. Frank Kaminsky led the team with 24 points as they dominated the Victor Oladipo-less Pacers. The Hornets had six players score in double-figures as they picked up a road win in their final game.

Charlotte was a bit shorthanded in this one as they were without Dwayne Bacon (right ankle sprain), Treveon Graham (concussion protocol), Cody Zeller (left knee soreness) and Michael Carter-Williams (left shoulder surgery). All 11 players who were active, saw game time for the Hornets.

Game Story

This game featured one lead change and one tie. Charlotte was in control for most of the game and led by as much as 28 points in the fourth quarter. The Hornets outscored the Pacers 56-38 in the second half. The Queen City team’s three-point shooting was the difference in this one as they made 10 more shots from beyond the arc.

Player of the Game

Frank Kaminsky finished with a game-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds off of the Hornets’ bench. He shot 10-17 from the field and made three three-point shots in this one. He was also a +11 in 27 minutes. He tied a season-high with 24 points.

Malik Monk added 17 points off of the bench while Kemba Walker and Marvin Williams each put up 15 points on the night. Dwight Howard grabbed a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. Nicolas Batum rounded out Charlotte’s double-digit scorer with 14 points. Willy Hernangomez had 10 rebounds off of the bench.

The Pacers were led by Darren Collison, Glenn Robinson III and TJ Leaf who all scored 13 points which were tied for a team-high. Former Charlotte player Al Jefferson had 12 points off of Indiana’ bench while Ex-Hornet Lance Stephenson ended with nine points and 13 rebounds.Domantis Sabonis had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

With the win, Charlotte improves to 2-2 on the year versus Indiana. For the second consecutive campaign, the Hornets tied their season series with the Pacers. The Queen City team has won seven of their last 11 meetings with IND.

The Hornets end the 2017-18 season with a 36-46 record which is the same record they had last year. They finish this campaign by going 21-20 at home and 15-26 on the road. With no playoff basketball, all eyes will be towards the offseason, the draft and free agency.
