The then-Bobcats picked D.J. Augustin ninth overall in the 2008 NBA Draft. Behind Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, D.J. was considered one of the top point guard prospects in that draft class. He ended up spending four years with Charlotte and playing in 282 games (142 starts).

In his four years with the Bobcats, the 6-foot point guard put up 10.9 points, 4.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game. His best season came in his third year (2010-11) when he played and started all 82 games for Charlotte and averaged 14.4 points and 6.1 assists per game. In 2009-10, he also helped the team get to their first playoff appearance since the return of  Charlotte basketball in 2004.

Augustin was named to the 2008-09 All-Rookie Second Team. He ranks eighth in three’s made in team history and ninth in assists. Before the NBA, D.J. was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school and a First Team All-American in college.

After four years with the Bobcats, Augustin joined the Indiana Pacers. Since then, he’s played for the Toronto Raptors, the Chicago Bulls, the Detroit Pistons, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets and the Orlando Magic. Although he’s played for eight different teams, D.J.’s longest stint was with Charlotte.
