After missing out on the top overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft (Anthony Davis), Charlotte settled on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with the No. 2 selection. He has spent his entire six-year career with the Queen City team. During that time, he’s dealt with a number of injuries but he’s also been one of their best defenders.

In his six seasons with the Bobcats/Hornets, Michael has averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 26.7 minutes per game. He’s played in 357 games for Charlotte and totaled 353 starts.

Kidd-Gilchrist was named to the 2012-13 All-Rookie Second Team. In terms of team records, he ranks sixth in offensive rebounds, eighth in defensive rebounds, sixth in total rebounds and eighth in blocks. The 6-foot-7 forward will likely continue to climb up the leaderboards as his career continues with the Hornets.

Charlotte was hoping that MKG would one day develop a consistent outside jump shot but he hasn’t shown much progress in doing so up to this point. At only 24 years old, his career is a long way from over and still has plenty of time to grow.
