The Charlotte Hornets currently hold the 55th overall selection in the 2018 NBA draft. Here are a few candidates for consideration, as June 21st quickly approaches.

The Charlotte Hornets rarely have much success in the second-round, but last year’s selection of Dwayne Bacon is already separating himself as something special. Already considered a key part of the future, Bacon’s defensive capabilities earned him a spot in the rotation early in the season.

The variety of players currently projected to be selected by the Charlotte Hornets is slim. Yet, in almost complete contrast, the second-round pick can be used on a vast number of players. Looking at their roster, Charlotte had three former 2nd round picks on their roster in Dwayne Bacon, Willy Hernangomez and Marcus Paige. Although, the only one of those players that they drafted was Bacon. Before Dwayne, the last seond-round pick to make an impact for them was Jeff Taylor in 2012.

The Hornets currently have three viable centers in Cody Zeller, Dwight Howard, and Willy Hernangomez. Other than drafting an additional center, the Hornets’ options are wide open late in the second-round. They could look to add more guard or wing depth to the team or they could solidify their frontcourt even more.

Though the talent level certainly drops-off after the first-round, here are some players the Hornets could find success with at pick 55 in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft:
