With the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks select Mikal Bridges from Villanova University.

Regarded as the best two-way player in the draft, Mikal Bridges had some flashes of greatness in his three years under Jay Wright. Mikal made notable improvements in his game that have made him a surefire lottery pick.

In his freshman year, Mikal was a 29% shooter from beyond the arc and attempted less than two threes per game. In the past year, Mikal shot 44% from three and shot six of them per game. Mikal was also a consistent defensive force on the wing, sporting a 95.2 Defensive Rating per 100 possessions during his college career.

The concern for Mikal will be his playmaking ability. Watching multiple games on the tantalizing prospect, Mikal left many wanting more. He almost seemed limited to a catch-and-shoot role in Villanova’s fluid offense. Mikal will need to improve his ability to create off the bounce if he wants to become the two-way force so many think he can be.
