With the twelfth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers select Robert Williams from Texas A&M University.

Another uber-athletic player from the state of Texas, Robert Williams is a match made in heaven for the Clippers. At 6’9″ and 240 pounds, Robert Williams is almost perfect for a potential small-ball lineup.

Returning to the Aggies for his sophomore season, Robert Williams decided to forego the NBA Draft last year. Though he was certainly a focal point of the offense, Williams didn’t make significant strides as a player to boost his stock heading into this year’s draft.

Williams didn’t see a significant drop in many statistical categories, but there wasn’t much growth either. Williams finished averaging a mere 10 points per game, two points less than the previous season, but did gather 9.2 rebounds per game.

An outstanding rim-runner in the open court, Williams will thrive off the spacing players like Mario Tedosic and Danilo Gallinari create with their playmaking ability. Growing and learning the game behind DeAndre Jordan, Williams won’t be asked to contribute as much as he would in other situations.
