With the thirteenth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers select Collin Sexton from the University of Alabama.
Though some believe he outplayed his positional competition in college, Collin Sexton falls to the Clippers at pick 13. Collin Sexton comes into the league as a score-first, ball-dominant point guard, who will fill the need for a future point guard in LA.
During his time on the Roll Tide, Sexton averaged just under 20 points per game and dished out 3.6 assists as well. Priding himself on his ability to blow by defenders and finish at the rim, Sexton shot over 50% on two-pointers.
However, the problem with Sexton is his decision-making and shooting ability. Sexton shot an average of 4 three-point attempts per game, an unusually high number when seeing he shot 33% from that range.
Collin Sexton will definitely benefit from the increased spacing from NBA offense. Yet, his inability to consistently convert on that open space from three-point range is cause for concern, considering he will be more than willing to take those open shots.
