With the fourth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Michael Porter Jr. from the University of Missouri.

Barring any major medical setbacks during the pre-draft process, Michael Porter Jr. has shown enough throughout his basketball career to warrant this selection.

Porter Jr. was a McDonald’s All-American, Wooden Award Preseason Favorite, and was the top player of his class before Marvin Bagley’s eventual reclass to 2018.

Porter Jr. suffered a severe back injury back in November 2017, sidelining him for the season. He did come back in time for the SEC tournament and NCAA tournament, but it did not lead to team success.

Though the injury history and lack of tape will certainly be concerning for front-offices and fans alike, the NBA Combine and individual team workouts will only help Porter’s stock as a potential franchise-changing player.
