With the seventh pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select Wendell Carter Jr. from Duke University.

The Chicago Bulls fell to the seventh pick on Tuesday night. Though it’s just a one pick slide, it’s a big loss for the Chicago franchise. At pick 6, they likely had their pick as to what big would fit next to rookie phenom Lauri Markannen. Whether it was Mohamed Bamba, Wendell Carter Jr., or possibly even Jaren Jackson Jr., the Bulls lost big on Tuesday night.

Now, the Bulls are left to select the one remaining upper-tier big man, Wendell Carter Jr. However, there is certainly an argument to be made in Carter’s favor. After an impressive freshman season at Duke, the multi-faceted center will make a smooth transition to the NBA game.

Standing 6’10”, Carter is slightly undersized by the modern-NBA center standard. That said, what Carter lacks in height, he makes up for with basketball intellect and willingness to do the little things for a team. Playing alongside Bagley at Duke, Wendell Carter Jr. averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Carter also shot above 40% from three-point range and was an above-average shooter from the free-throw line. Carter’s playmaking ability and big body will fit perfectly next to the seven-foot Lauri Markannen in Chicago.
