The Charlotte Hornets are set to bring in former Florida Gators point guard Chris Chiozza for a pre-draft workout.
According to MemphisDailyNews.com, Chris Chiozza is scheduled to workout for the Charlotte Hornets. He’s already held pre-draft workouts with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Washington Wizards. The former Florida guard will also workout for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks before the 2018 NBA Draft.
Chiozza spent four years at the University of Florida under both Billy Donovan and Mike White. He played in over 130 games for the Gators and put up career-high numbers during his Senior campaign. The Memphis, Tennessee native is now looking to make the leap to the NBA.
Chris averaged 11.1 points per game, 6.1 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals this past year. He also managed to shoot 41.7% from the field, 34.9% from three and 80.9% from the free throw line. Chiozza was third on the team in scoring, third in rebounds, first in assists and first in steals.

He helped lead the Gators to a 21-13 record, a third-place finish in the South Eastern Conference and a Second Round appearance in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Chris led the SEC in assists and was named to the NCAA Tournament All-Region Team in 2017.
At best, Chiozza is projected to be a second-round pick but there is also a chance that he could go undrafted. (NBAscoutingLive.com) Charlotte holds a late second-round pick so Chris could be an option for them at No. 55. The Hornets are also in need of point guard depth as Michael Carter-Williams will be a free agent this summer.
Chiozza is a quick playmaker who is also a tough defender. He’s developed into a decent outside shooter but may be a bit undersized for the NBA at only 6’0 and 175 pounds.
It’s unlikely that he will ever be a star at the next level but Chris definitely has the talent and grittiness to make a training camp roster if he plays well during the summer league.

Chris Chiozza would be a great emergency point guard option on an NBA roster or a starter for a G-League team. The Charlotte Hornets have already hosted Peyton Aldridge, Austin Ajukwa, Connor Burchfield, Jon Davis, Marcanvis Hymon, Bakary Konate, Ray Ona Embo, Fletcher Magee, Admiral Schofield, Andrien White and Lexus Williams for pre-draft workouts.
