Charlotte Hornets bring in Troy Brown for pre-draft workout
The Charlotte Hornets will reportedly host potential first-round pick and former Oregon star Troy Brown for a pre-draft workout.
According to Tony Jones of The Salt Lake Tribune, Troy Brown will work out for the Charlotte Hornets next Sunday (June 17th). Jones also tweeted that the former Oregon guard’s stock continues to rise leading up to the 2018 NBA Draft.
Troy has already worked out for a number of teams including the Los Angeles Clippers, the Denver Nuggets, the Phoenix Suns, the San Antonio Spurs, the Utah Jazz and the Washington Wizards. It’s clear that there is plenty of interest surrounding Brown. He will probably meet with more teams before June 21st.
Brown is projected to be a mid to late first-round pick in this year’s draft and NBADraft.net has him going at No. 20 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He isn’t expected to be a lottery selection but if he continues to impress teams, there is a chance that he could move up into the top-14. Charlotte currently holds the 11th overall pick in the first round so taking Troy that early may be considered a bit of a reach.

Troy is a two-way player who excels in rebounding. He is a decent playmaking and defender but definitely needs to improve his outside shot if he wants to become a 3-and-D player at in the NBA.

If Brown does well in his pre-draft workout with Charlotte, there is a possibility that they could take him at No. 11 but it’s still unlikely. He’s been helping himself out during the process leading up to the draft as his stock keeps going up. The Hornets have brought in other top prospects like Mikal Bridges, Lonnie Walker IV and Robert Williams.
