The Charlotte Hornets have reportedly invited undrafted guard Gabe DeVoe to their mini-camp ahead of the Las Vegas Summer League.

It looks like the Charlotte Hornets have added Gabe DeVoe to their summer league roster. The former Clemson guard tweeted “Buzz City!” and Sanders Sullivan of Clemson Sports tweeted that the Queen City team did, in fact, pick him up the undrafted rookie.

DeVoe was not selected during the 2018 NBA Draft. Although, he did workout for the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the draft. Gabe wasn’t considered a top prospect in this year’s draft class so it wasn’t a surprise that he went undrafted but he now has a chance to prove himself with Charlotte.

The Shelby, North Carolina native will join the Hornets’ mini-camp and will have a shot at making their official summer league roster.

More from Swarm and Sting

During his Senior year, DeVoe averaged 14.2 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals while managing to shoot 44.9% from the field, 39.6% from three and 78% from the free throw line in 35 appearances. He ranked sixth in the ACC in three’s made and 10th in steal percentage. Gabe was also named to the 2018 NCAA Tournament All-Region team (MidWest).

The 22-year old was second on the Clemson Tigers in scoring, third in rebounds, fourth in assists, second in steals and first in three’s. He helped lead them to a 25-10 record which was good enough for third in the ACC and they even made it to the Sweet 16 during the NCAA Tournament. At 6’3 and 200 pounds, he has good size

At 6’3 and 200 pounds, he will most likely need to be a point guard at the next level as he may be too undersized to play shooting guard. Still, he is a proven scorer and will be able to showcase his skills during the summer league.

Rookie’s Miles Bridges and Devonte Graham are set to play for the Hornets this summer while second-year players Malik Monk and Dwayne Bacon will feature on the team as well. Willy Hernangomez has also announced that he will play in Las Vegas this summer rather than with the Spanish National Team.
