Charlotte Hornets: Draft grades for the last 10 years
2010: No Draft pick
The Bobcats made the playoffs this season so they would have had a low pick. There didn’t seem to be many talented players in the late first round so it may have been a good decision not to have a pick in this draft.

2011: Picked Kemba Walker at #9
Well, this was probably one of the best draft picks in Charlotte basketball history. Sacramento originally had the 7th overall pick and traded it to the Bobcats. Biyombo was decent. This draft didn’t have too many great players but there could have been a better selection. Klay Thompson was 11th and Leonard was 15th. This bad pick was made up for two selections later.
Kemba Walker was drafted 11th and is one of the best players to play in Charlotte. Kemba has been a 2x all-star and the face of the franchise. Kemba was on the team through the 7-59 season and stayed loyal to this team and city. He has been underrated his whole career but that hasn’t stopped him from working hard and being an all-time Hornets legend. Kemba Walker just became the leading scorer for this franchise and has many great years ahead of him.
Charlotte had another first round pick as Tobias Harris went 19th. Harris was a great pick and is also a great player. It definitely wasn’t a bad selection, he just shouldn’t have been traded. In the early second round, Jeremy Tyler, an overseas player, was picked. Tyler never appeared in the NBA. No draft picks after he was too successful in the league, so I guess the selection wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
