2014: Picked Noah Vonleh at #9

The 6’10 power forward from Indiana was a prospect with a lot of potentials. Sadly, he hasn’t been half the player that some people thought he would be. Vonleh played one season for Charlotte and he didn’t perform well and didn’t get many minutes. Later, in the off-season, he was traded to Portland with Gerald Henderson for Nic Batum.

Now, there weren’t too many good players that were passed on, but Dario Saric and Zach LaVine went back to back at 12 and 13. The Hornets also had the number 24 pick which was Shabazz Napier but then traded him to Miami for P.J. Hairston at Number 26. Napier and Hairston haven’t done well in the NBA so this trade didn’t work out for either team. The right selection would’ve been Clint Capela, who was in the middle of these two picks at #25.

Dwight Powell was selected in the middle of the second round but never played for Charlotte as he was traded. Powell hasn’t had a bad NBA career as he has been decent off the bench. Jordan Clarkson was the next selection who was a great role player for the Lakers and is a great player off the bench.

DRAFT GRADE: C+
