With one open two-way player spot, who will the Charlotte Hornets sign? Here are five possible prospects for the Queen City team to target.
After waiving Mangok Mathiang, the Charlotte Hornets have a two-way player spot to fill on their roster. J.P. Macura was signed earlier this summer to replace Marcus Paige who is going to play overseas. This is an opportunity for the Queen City team to sign a prospect that they can develop in the G-League with the Greensboro Swarm.
It’s unclear who they are targeting to bring in but there are a number of players who are still available. Whether it be a big man, a wing player, or a guard, Charlotte needs a player who can make an impact in the G-League and fill in when needed with the Hornets. Their last two/first two two-way players were a bit underwhelming, maybe it will be different this time around.

5. Doral Moore
Moore is an undrafted free agent out of the Wake Forest. He skipped his Senior Year to go pro this summer. He played for the Washington Wizards during the Las Vegas Summer League where he saw limited minutes. In Vegas, Doral averaged 0.8 PPG, 0.8 RPG, and 1.0 BPG in 4.2 minutes.
The 7’1 center put up 11.1 points per game, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks for the Demon Deacons during his Junior Year. His talent and production was clearly there as he almost averaged a double-double and had over two blocks per game.
It’s also worth noting that he was an ESPN top-100 recruit coming out of high school (No. 72) and was rated a top-60 prospect by 247sports. The raw talent is there and it’s a surprise that he still hasn’t been signed to an NBA team.
With limited option available, Moore may be the Hornets’ best bet. He is a skilled big man who is still young enough and has potential to develop into at least a bench center in the NBA.
The 21-year old is still looking for a home and if Charlotte wants to find a big man to replace Mangok Mathiang, Moore may be the most like-for-like replacement. Based on his production level in college and age, I think that Doral is worth taking a chance on with a two-way contract.
