Ranking the Charlotte Hornets’ top-5 centers of All-Time
2. Al Jefferson (Bobcats/Hornets ’13-’16)
In the summer of 2013, Al Jefferson signed a $40.5 million contract with the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Bobcats, now Hornets, was lacking a franchise center during this time. Jefferson was able to rack up forty points in a game against the Lakers in his inaugural season with the Bobcats.
As a member of the Charlotte franchise, Jefferson averaged 17.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game through three years. These are great numbers, due to the fact that Charlotte had an elite center helping Kemba Walker.
In 2014, after the Bobcats reached the playoffs, Jefferson was gifted with the award of All-NBA Third Team. It is not often that someone from the Charlotte franchise is chosen to be a part of this list.
Jefferson is on a majority of the team’s All-Time lists and brought what success that he could to the Charlotte franchise. The Hornets have been searching for a dominant franchise center to fill the void that he left.
